On a particularly sunny climb up Montara Peak this weekend, we encountered a series of old, mysterious-looking abandoned vehicles, sprawled along the steep slopes of the mountain. Their decay made them difficult to identify, and thickened the mystery surrounding them: I wondered what kind of lives had been lived in them when they were functioning. The streaming rust on the metal surface of the vehicles particularly struck me as quite beautiful, and I bemoaned to my partner the leaving of my iPhone camera in the car. He simply responded: “So draw them from memory.”
Here is my first attempt.
